Since the second phase of the solar power plant for self-consumption was installed on April 12th, Revigrés has doubled its capacity to produce clean energy.
The plant consists of 7,328 solar PV panels with a total output of 2.9Mwp, resulting in 4 Gwh of solar energy produced every year. Thanks to the new solar plant, it is also possible to reduce CO2 emissions by 1826 tonnes/year, which is the equivalent to planting around 47,000 trees.
The launching ceremony was attended by the Minister of the Environment and Climate Action, Duarte Cordeiro, the Mayor of Águeda, Jorge Almeida, the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate, Ana Fontoura Gouveia, the Chairman of APICER, José Pratas, and the President of the Portuguese Association of Real Estate Developers and Investors, Hugo Santos Ferreira.
According to Victor Ribeiro, CEO of Revigrés, “The second phase of the installation of the self-consumption photovoltaic plant at Revigrés, in partnership with Helexia, has allowed us to scale up clean energy production from 1.2GWh/year to 4GW/year. With this commitment, close to 20% of the energy used by our manufacturing units comes from renewable sources, thus reducing CO2 emissions by 1,826 tons per year. Another landmark in an already broad sustainability policy that allows us to say with conviction that our ceramics are truly green.”
